Dopey and Bashful

*We are now taking applications on DOPEY and BASHFUL, who are almost there, but will need a quiet , understanding home, separately, willing to continue their training, including toilet training. They will need to go to a home where there is another dog who can show them how to be a ‘dog’.*

Dopey

Their story: In November we received a call from one of the counties dog wardens about 7 dogs who had been dumped in a lay-by in 2 dog crates. They were described as all being small and frightened. When they arrived at the rescue they were carried in as they had never worn collars or even seen a lead. Neglected and with no idea who we were, nails too long, coats smelling of urine. Where had these poor dogs been kept? Inter bred, used, these poor dogs were heart breaking. 4 months on and they were still scared. We have bathed, groomed and wormed (yes there tummies were full of worms!). They have been neutered so their bodies can no longer be abused. They will need toilet training. But they are still going to need a lot of time and weren’t be ready to be re-homed for months rather than weeks. With 7 dogs arriving in one day, we had no choice but to name them after the 7 dwarfs, Welcome Doc, Grumpy, Sleepy, Happy, Bashful, Sneezy and Dopey. *Sneezy, Sleepy, Doc and Grumpy are now successfully in a new home. Sadly we lost Happy. *

Beau

*NOW IN HIS NEW FOREVER HOME*
Beau was an 8 month old JR X. He was fully vaccinated and microchipped whilst with us but will need neutering in the near future. He was a very active dog, but can be a bit shy of new people and surroundings, so will need time and patience.

Puppy register

*NOW ALL REHOMED*
As a rescue we don’t often get litters of puppies in thank fully, but at present we do. They will not be ready to go for a few more weeks, but we are looking for people to register their interest. Puppies require a large commitment of time and energy in order to help them to become well adjusted dogs in the future, so we will be looking for homes that can offer this kind of commitment. The mum of the pups is a lovely tempered Staffie cross, whilst the dad was a Cockerpoo. They are at present favouring dad in head shape and are likely to grow to medium sized dogs.
If you are considering adopting a puppy please complete one of our online enquiry forms via the ‘enquire about a dog’ button on this page.
Picture shown is not one of the puppies.

Ziggy

*NOW IN HER NEW HOME*
Ziggy is a 4year old, ball obsessed female collie. She has had a number of homes so we are now definitely looking for her forever home! If you think that you are the right home for her, please complete our online enquiry form, by clicking on the ‘enquire about a dog’ button on this page. She needs a family with older children or a couple, with an active lifestyle, who can give her the time, attention and the mental stimulation she needs.

Saint

Saint is a very special collie! He turns 3 in March and has been with us over a year. Why so long? Sadly Saint came into rescue with a lot of issues. Having spent his first year, unsocialised, stuck in a flat, not being walked! Now the big wide world is a scary space at times. He can zone out and become distracted and reactive. We have done a lot of work with him, slow introduction to new experiences. He is very strong and pulling on lead is still an issue. We have been taking Saint swimming and he is learning to love swimming and play in the pool.

He can be so good during training with Lola

We are now looking for that special home where Saint can continue to learn and enjoy life. We really think he needs a large garden, where the need to walk will not be a necessity. Another dog would be great as Saint loves to play. Do you have the time and love to give Saint. If so we would love to hear from you. Please give us a call on 02380559552 or complete our online enquiry form.

Bonnie

*NOW IN HER NEW HOME*
Bonnie is a 9 year old poodle x. She had a tough start to her life, but is thoroughly enjoying her time in rescue! She is presently in a foster home, she has learnt recall off lead because she is such a loyal loving dog. She is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. She is looking for a home with maybe one other dog and she loves older children. She needs an active family as she thinks nothing of walking 2 hours at a time!
If you think you could offer Bonnie a home please call us on 02380559552 or complete our online form.
NB PLEASE ADD CONTACT@SECONDCHANCEANIMALRESCUE.CO.UK TO YOUR ADDRESS BOOK AS OUR RESPONSES ARE FALLING INTO SPAM/JUNK FOLDERS.

Marley

*NOW IN HIS NEW HOME*
Marley is an 8 month old Pomeranian puppy. He has been vaccinated and microchipped and is ready for a new home. We are looking for an experienced Pomeranian owner as Marley is a fussy eater. He will need to be neutered at the appropriate time and this would be a condition of adoption. He will require regular grooming.
If you think you could offer Marley a home please call us on 02380559552 or complete our online form by clicking on the ‘enquire about a dog button’
