Dog
Happy Harry
Happy is one of our 7 Dwarfs who came to us in November of 2023! Dumped in 2 crates at the side of the road, they are not your average dog sadly. We are pleased to say that Doc, Grumpy, Sneezy and Sleepy are all in homes. However Bashful, Dopey and Happy are taking longer to place. All our Dwarfs will need a patient home with an experienced dog owner, another ‘normal’ dog is going to help too. Would you like to offer Happy a new life? At present with our dog behaviourist, Dawn who is fostering him. He is now Happy Harry! If you think you could offer Happy Harry a home please complete our online enquiry form or give us a call on 02380559552. (please leave a message if you get our machine, we aren’t able to man the phones when we are busy working outside with the animals).
Harry in his foster home, enjoying beach walks
Saint
Saint is a very special collie! He turns 3 in March and has been with us over a year. Why so long? Sadly Saint came into rescue with a lot of issues. Having spent his first year, unsocialised, stuck in a flat, not being walked! Now the big wide world is a scary space at times. He can zone out and become distracted and reactive. We have done a lot of work with him, slow introduction to new experiences. He is very strong and pulling on lead is still an issue. We have been taking Saint swimming and he is learning to love swimming and play in the pool.
He can be so good during training with Lola
We are now looking for that special home where Saint can continue to learn and enjoy life. We really think he needs a large garden, where the need to walk will not be a necessity. Another dog would be great as Saint loves to play. Do you have the time and love to give Saint. If so we would love to hear from you. Please give us a call on 02380559552 or complete our online enquiry form.
Bonnie
*NOW IN HER NEW HOME*
Bonnie is a 9 year old poodle x. She had a tough start to her life, but is thoroughly enjoying her time in rescue! She is presently in a foster home, she has learnt recall off lead because she is such a loyal loving dog. She is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. She is looking for a home with maybe one other dog and she loves older children. She needs an active family as she thinks nothing of walking 2 hours at a time!
If you think you could offer Bonnie a home please call us on 02380559552 or complete our online form.
NB PLEASE ADD CONTACT@SECONDCHANCEANIMALRESCUE.CO.UK TO YOUR ADDRESS BOOK AS OUR RESPONSES ARE FALLING INTO SPAM/JUNK FOLDERS.
Marley
*NOW IN HIS NEW HOME*
Marley is an 8 month old Pomeranian puppy. He has been vaccinated and microchipped and is ready for a new home. We are looking for an experienced Pomeranian owner as Marley is a fussy eater. He will need to be neutered at the appropriate time and this would be a condition of adoption. He will require regular grooming.
If you think you could offer Marley a home please call us on 02380559552 or complete our online form by clicking on the ‘enquire about a dog button’
The Seven Dwarfs!
*We are now taking applications on Dopey and Happy, who are almost there, but will need a quiet , understanding home, willing to continue their training, including toilet training.*
*Sneezy, Sleepy and Grumpy are now successfully in a new home*
These dogs are needing rehoming either in pairs or with another stable dog in the household already.
Their story: In November we received a call from one of the counties dog wardens about 7 dogs who had been dumped in a lay-by in 2 dog crates. They were described as all being small and frightened. When they arrived at the rescue they were carried in as they had never worn collars or even seen a lead. Neglected and with no idea who we were, nails too long, coats smelling of urine. Where had these poor dogs been kept? Inter bred, used, these poor dogs were heart breaking. 4 months on and they were still scared. We have bathed, groomed and wormed (yes there tummies were full of worms!). They have been neutered so their bodies can no longer be abused. They will need toilet training. But they are still going to need a lot of time and won’t be ready to be re-homed for perhaps months rather than weeks. With 7 dogs arriving in one day, we had no choice but to name them after the 7 dwarfs, Welcome Doc, Grumpy, Sleepy, Happy, Bashful, Sneezy and Dopey.
