My name is David Eddy and on 2 October 2019, I reach 70 years old. Not sure how I made it, but here I am.
When I was turned 65, I did a tandem parachute jump (see photo) to raise money for the Second Chance Animal Rescue at Mansbridge. They partnered me with my two dogs, Sunny (9 ½ years ago) and Nola (1 ½ years ago).
I am going to try to do a parachute jump every 5 years until I can’t do it anymore.
I am booked to board a tiny little plane on Friday 26th September which does not even have cabin service to supply you with a drink! We will fly up to 15000 ft (nearly 3 miles), then I hurl myself out, hopefully securely attached to someone who knows what they are doing. We freefall for two miles which only takes about 2 minutes before my partner, who packed the parachutes, checks if he did the job properly. We then coast into a gentle landing and I do my usual 70 years old ungainly effort at getting off the floor.
There will be a gentleman ‘flying’ with us to video the whole event which be uploaded to YouTube.
I have paid for the jump and the video so there are no expenses and any money donated will all go to Second Chance.
If you can help, please donate what you can at
You do not get a refund if the parachute does not open, sorry!
